One hundred years after Stellenbosch University (SU) started out with four faculties (Science, Education, Arts and Social Sciences, and AgriSciences), 503 students and 40 academic staff on 2 April 1918, the University’s five campuses are today home to 10 faculties and a vibrant and cosmopolitan community of more than 30 000 students and 3 000 staff members.
Our University’s 10 diverse faculties are where future leaders and trailblazers are inspired to tackle the world’s most pressing challenges and shape a better tomorrow. The 10 faculties foster collaboration with industry and community partners through purposeful partnerships, technology transfer, business incubation and engaged research that addresses real-world challenges and drives innovation. Each faculty actively builds networks with the private sector, government and civil society to co-create knowledge, support student learning through work-integrated opportunities, and ensure that research outcomes have tangible impact beyond the university. These collaborations are central to SU’s mission of advancing knowledge in service of society and building capacity for the 21st-century knowledge economy.
