I personally chose Hungary because I always wanted to experience the culture and environment in European countries. I am also drawn to its welcoming, international student atmosphere. Another reason is that Budapest, the place where I study, has a unique cultural mix, an affordable lifestyle, and a central location in Europe, which makes it an ideal place for both academic growth and travel. Choosing AccommodationBME, unfortunately, does not provide a dormitory for exchange students. BME is very centrally located in Budapest, which makes it quite convenient when considering where to live. The university is located on the Buda side of the city, near the bank of the Danube River, between Liberty Bridge and Petőfi Bridge. During my exchange in Hungary, I used the United Erasmus Housing website to look for accommodation ( https://unitederasmushousing.com), which is also recommended by one of my seniors who also went to Budapest, Hungary, for her student exchange. The website is pretty good and easy to use. You can make a payment directly through the website. Most of the accommodation offered by the website is shared flats; however, all of the flatmates are also exchange students as the website is intended for exchange students in Budapest.TransportationYou can take a tram, bus, or metro. Some stations have a ticket machine for a single ticket, time-based tickets, etc. By using the Budapest Go App, you can buy a monthly pass, which is also available at a very affordable price (3,450 HUF / 8,75 Euros) for students once you have your student ID card from the university. However, you should have your student ID all the time if you are using this monthly pass for students, as not doing so can result in fines during ticket inspection. .....undefined
