Singapore University of Technology and Design
Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) is Singapore's 4th public university established in 2009 in collaboration with MIT, and is one of the world's first university to incorporate the art and science of design and technology into a truly holistic interdisciplinary education and research experience that culminates in real-world design innovations.
SUTD also topped the list of emerging engineering schools in the world in a study commissioned by MIT entitled “Global State of the Art in Engineering Education” in 2018. 29% of SUTD faculty have been listed among the top 2% of scientists globally in a database released by Stanford University and Elsevier BV.
Nestled in the eastern part of city, SUTD is a stone's away from nearby towns (such as Bedok, Simei and Tampines) that are treasure troves of local cuisines, as well as heritage enclaves (Katong and Joo Chiat), connecting you to Singapore's melting pot of cultures and traditions.
Better yet, SUTD has a campus metro station right at the doorstep, providing great accessibility all over Singapore – 10 minutes to Changi Airport and 30 minutes to Town!

5 Reasons to Choose SUTD
#1 Interdisciplinary, Design-centric Curriculum
SUTD offers interdisciplinary learning experience where you can easily take cross pillar subjects. You also get to work on design-related projects with full access to our Fabrication Lab facilities, that supports prototyping and turning your ideas into reality.
#2 Hands-on Collaborative Learning
Experience a MIT-like education where 90% of our curriculum were developed by MIT. With a 11:1 student to faculty ratio, SUTD focuses on hands-on small group learning so you will get to interact closely with our faculty and students.
#3 Undergraduate Research Opportunities
In most universities, only selected students have access to research opportunities. At SUTD, all undergraduates, including first year students and exchange students have the opportunity to work on research with our faculty.
#4 Vibrant Student Life
Over here at SUTD, there are no classes on Wednesday and Friday afternoons to allow students to pursue their passions and interests through participating in the various student clubs (also known as Fifth Rows).
#5 An Innovative Entrepreneurship Culture
SUTD has a dedicated entrepreneurship centre that supports SUTD start-ups and provides resources and training to budding entrepreneurs like you!

Exchange Options
Experience SUTD's unique pedagogy and curriculum through our exchange programme where exchange students will have the flexibility of building your own exchange experience. You have the options of taking up an exchange programme that suits your academic needs and interest.
Academic & Research Exchange
Exchange students take a combination of academic subjects from different pillars/cluster, as well as a iUROP research project under our International Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (iUROP Lite, iUROP Meta or iUROP Mezzo) during their exchange term.
Academic Exchange
Exchange students take 2 to 4 academic subjects without taking any iUROP research project.
Research Exchange
Exchange students take on a full-time iUROP research project through our International Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (iUROP Max) under the supervision of SUTD faculty, without taking any academic subjects.
Exchange students will have opportunities to work on full-time cutting edge and innovative research projects alongside SUTD students under the supervision of SUTD faculty. Exchange students will be able to participate in the different phases of research activity which include, developing research plans, writing proposals, conducting research, analyzing data and presenting research results in oral and written form.
Postgraduate Research Internship
As another exchange modality, postgraduate research internship provides postgraduate students from partner universities the opportunity to work on a research project under the supervision of a SUTD faculty. Students will apply under Training Employment Pass (instead of Student Pass).
Students may identify a SUTD Faculty as their research supervisor according to their research interests and participate in the different phases of research activity on a non-credit bearing basis. Besides immersing in SUTD’s rich research culture, students also get the chance to gain multicultural and interdisciplinary design perspectives.
