As a comprehensive and pioneering university, the Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) is one of France’s leaders in higher education and research, considered a driver of progress and knowledge at a global scale. Since January 2020, UGA has brought together all the forces of public higher education in a single structure, strengthening its association with national research organizations to bring its training and research capacities to the highest level.
Enrolling over 59,000 students each year, including 10,500 international students, UGA offers a wide range of academic programs and represents a major center for research and innovation in the heart of Europe. Our disciplinary and interdisciplinary research constantly opens up new fields of knowledge.
UGA has joined the top 150 in the 2022 Shanghai ranking of the world's best universities and has distinguished itself by its scientific and technological research activities (to benefit the training and society). At the national level, UGA is the 5th largest university in France and 1st university in the region, alongside two other French universities.
