UNIL
The University of Lausanne is a Swiss state university that focuses on Life Sciences, Geosciences, Environment, Business, Medicine, Humanities and Social Sciences. UNIL is a research-intensive university that encourages interdisciplinarity.
UNIL is situated at the heart of the French-speaking region of Switzerland, in the centre of Western Europe. It welcomes more than 400 exchange students every year.


Academics
At UNIL most courses are taught in French. Students’ French language skills must be at least equivalent to level B2 of the CEFR. The School of French as a Foreign Language (EFLE), which is part of the Faculty of Arts, offers full-time courses, and part-time courses which can be combined with regular academic courses in your host faculty. Complete beginners in French are accepted.
There are courses taught in English at the Faculty of Business and Economics, the Faculty of Arts (English Literature), and at the School of Biology. At graduate level, courses taught in English are also available in the Faculty of Geosciences and Environment.
Practical information
Housing is available in on- and off-campus accomodation. Application for housing must be submitted by the deadline!
The ESN student association can organize pick-up service at Geneva airport or at Lausanne train station.
