學校課程英文系的課程分成 Lecture 和 Seminar，Lecture就是類似台大的大班課程，以老師講授為主，搭配投影片學習，老師會將該周文本的背景、作者等基本介紹，作為同學自行閱讀文本的引導；而Seminar則是討論課，非常小班的教學（通常應到15，實到8），老師會提出一些文本相關的討論問題，有時讓同學分組討論或者直接請有意願的同學分享看法。&nbsp;這是我第一次上英文的文學課程，內容對我來說有些吃力，但確實在過程中學會很多知識，也培養克服困難的能力，最重要的是讓自己可以勇敢地用英文發言（我遇到的老師都會很耐心的聽並且幫忙解釋）。因為我的交換主要目標是旅遊與探索，並不是成為文學大師（X），所以如果沒辦法讀完文本也不用擔心，可以先上網搜尋摘要和概念，基本上應付課程沒有問題！我修的英文系課程都只有書面報告，期中期末前老師也會開諮詢時間，可以與老師討論有興趣的主題，像我通常會將我擬好的大綱說明給老師聽，老師就會給予我建議，讓我可以補充漏未討論的部分。上學期The Act of the Essay（7.5 ECTS）這門課主要的重點在於了解Essay的定義、如何精確的撰寫Essay、如何正確閱讀Essay等等，這是一門大一的必修課，所以並不需要背景知識，課程會從頭開始帶領同學了解Essay這種文體，對於外國人也是相對友善的課程，因為文本大多是文章，沒有很長篇的小說等書籍。&nbsp;English on the Move（7.5 ECTS）這是我本學期最喜歡的課程，課程內容為帶領同學了解英文在不同地區、文化下，有不同的面貌，簡單來說，英文不僅僅屬於英國。每周的主題包含翻譯文學、美國文化、猶太文化（這是我的研究主題，這門課讓我對於猶太文化的了解提高很多，算是在台灣比較不會接觸到的議題，但是議題之間是會有共通性的，所以研究之後會產生很多新的想法！）、殖民主義等，這門課的文本比較多元，有些是散文，也有短篇小說。... ...&nbsp;undefined

About School【Academics】Choosing how many classes you take depends on how you want your exchange period to go. Based on NTU guidelines, I had to take a minimum of 2 classes per semester. So I took 3 classes during the fall semester, and 2 classes during the spring semester. Most classes are 15 CATS which equates to 7.5 ECTS.The modules I took were:Introduction to German StudiesGerman Language Stage 1AFrench Accelerated Language Stages 1-2Global Transformations in 20th and 21st Century MusicI had a lot of fun learning languages so I’d recommend Virginie’s French Language classes and Milena’s German Language classes because I feel like the teaching pace is just right and their teaching materials are very informative. Their classes are also taught in a fun and relaxed manner that doesn’t put too much pressure on students. That being said, there are a few assignments that you have to submit but it’s nothing overbearing.【Accommodation】I used to live in Glen Eyre Halls, a university accommodation that is just a 10-minute walk to Southampton&rsquo;s main campus, Highfield Campus. Most activities on campus happen in Highfield where you can also partake in societies and clubs... ... In Glen Eyre, there are a lot of different buildings as well so I used to live in Hillside House which consisted of flats containing 7-9 rooms depending on which flat you got. Most, if not all of the rooms in Hillside were general non-ensuite rooms which meant you had a shared kitchen, and shared bathrooms. My flat had 7 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and a shared kitchen which I consider to be just right since I never had to wait to go in a bathroom.
